This website was created by Dr Aftab Gill, a consultant cardiologist based at Queens Hospital, Burton on Trent. Below is a little bit about me:
Born & bred in Bristol, I attended Bristol University for my BSc. (Hons) degree, as well as my undergraduate medical training. I completed my house officer training in & around the South West before being awarded a prestigious British Heart Foundation Junior Fellowship to complete a 2 year period of research at the Bristol Heart Institute.
I moved to the West Midlands in 2006 (with initial reluctance I admit) to complete my specialist training in cardiology. I worked in & around Birmingham in centres such as University Hospital Coventry as well as New Cross, Wolverhampton, Dudley & Worcester. I was fortunate to be awarded an Interventional Fellowship at the Ottawa Heart Institute, Canada where i spent a year advancing my coronary angioplasty skills. I returned from Canada to commence my consultant post at Queen’s Hospital Burton, in October 2012.

A very pleasant and helpful doctor. Everything was explained in great detail and any questions were answered in a way that were easy to understand. An extremely good experience
Dr Gill is an amazing consultant who listens and explains your diagnosis very thoroughly. I cannot fault him in anyway whatsoever. From checking in, having all obs done and seeing Dr Gill I was in and out of his clinic in 25 minutes.
I find Dr Gill a very kind and caring doctor who will sit and listen to you, nothing seems to much trouble, and he explains things to you.
Gave clear instructions in a friendly manner, whilst listening to what I said.
Dr. Gill came across as being a very competent and caring person who explained my condition and ongoing care in a manner that gave me confidence at what has been a rather traumatic time.
I am glad to be a patient of Dr Gill, as it is terrifying to be diagnosed with heart failure at a younger age of 48. Dr Gills is exellent in explaining things in a simple and understandable way and makes you feel less anxious and nervous. The good part I.like about Dr Gill is that he gives you the follow to ask any questions and he doesn't rush at all. Definitely will recommend any of my family members or friends to Dr Gill. Since I have been taking my medications I see a big difference in myself and even at work they see a big difference in me and always happy . Thank you Dr Gill.
Dr Gill was very reassuring, listened to everything I said and answered all my questions. He made sure that all of my questions were answered before my consultation with him ended.

Heart failure is damage, scarring or a stretched heart muscle so the muscle is weak and unable provide for the body’s normal demands. This results in shortness of breath, tiredness & swelling of the legs.
Sadly, there is no one test that can detect all heart problems. Different tests are good at picking up different heart issues. Hence the need for your Cardiologist to take a history & examine you to determine the appropriate test(s) required.
